Mrs. Koetting’s Advanced Animal Science class have been learning about anatomical planes and directions. For their final assignment students created their animal out of sweet potatoes, tooth picks and marshmallows. Students were given a prompt using anatomical words and phrases like ‘cranial, caudal, lateral, medial, transverse, and dorsal’ and had to draw the correct shape that corresponded with the correct location on the animal.

Our school is doing a Climate Survey to learn about students, staff, and families perceptions of safety, relationships, and support here at Hedley ISD. This survey is part of our work with the Stronger Connections Grant and aligns with the Student Support Framework. On October 2, 2025, Hedley ISD will be hosting “All things Whitt” at 1:50pm in the library- a Mental Health & Suicide
Awareness program to 6th – 12th graders. Parents are welcome to attend!
The presentation is provided by Robby & Sheridan Brooks in honor of their son, Whitt, who
tragically took his own life on August 7, 2021. The Brooks have a mission to raise awareness and
provide a detailed look at what actually happens to the family that is left behind.

Mrs. Orcutt's PE class had the opportunity last week to play some parachute games!

Kinder and 1st are having very busy days this week! They have been on a noun hunt, searching for common and proper nouns. In math, they have been making rekenreks to help with counting and grouping!

4th and 5th grades have been very busy in Science doing labs on mass, density and solubility. Shout out to Mrs. B for making Science fun and getting these Owls some hands on experience.

We had a donut party for 6 of our Blue Note Winners from the 1st 6 weeks! 6 students had their names randomly drawn after winning blue notes the 1st 6 weeks. Today was a SWEET day to be an Owl! (Not pictured is Elizabeth. She will have her donut at snack time today!)

Tomorrow's Cross Country Meet at the Quanah Country Club at 430 Country Club Rd in Quanah will start at 3:30pm with the following running order:

Varsity boys
JV boys
Varsity girls
JH girls
JH boys

Cross Country Meet is tomorrow, September 24th in Quanah. The order will be Varsity boys, JV boys, Varsity girls, JH girls, and end with JH boys. The race will be at the Quanah Country Club at 430 Country Club Rd in Quanah. Go Owls!

Kinder and 1st students ended the day creating fall master pieces! Their art will be displayed in the hallway. Make sure you take a look if you are on campus!

It's been a busy week Hedley! 4th and 5th went to Shark Beach for Sandcastle Days! They were able to build sandcastles and play some fun games!

Congratulations to these awesome owls! Coach Orcutt gave them blue notes for being tenacious and learning to be master skippers! Hooray for them!

On Wednesday, September 24, students will gather at the school flagpole at 7:15am to pray. We invite friends, families, church members, and community members to join us for See You at the Pole.
*Donuts and juice will be served.
